BBC3 wants a 3pm start

It looks as if the BBC wants to start broadcasting the digital satellite channel, BBC3, at 3pm.

This is because this channel, along with Switch, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, is aimed at a target audience of thirteen and over.

By moving the start time forward to 3pm, the channel believes that it could increase its reach by a further twenty per cent, but the BBC Trust is not so sure about the claims and is concerned that extending the hours of BBC3 would put more pressure on the spectrum.

There are also claims that BBC3 and BBC4 are currently showing around eighty per cent of repeated content.

The listings show that programmes are repeated over and over.

Therefore it stands to reason that BBC3 would just be showing the same content but at an earlier time.
